At long last, Ducks Head Black has returned. It has been a long road and the journey isn't quite over, but this beautiful combination of black, silver, green, blue and iridescence is once again in production. Of course, the production season is about at its close for 2011, but there's more to tell on that score as well!

Closing in on Duckshead
After many trials - and failures - Duckshead seems close at hand. This combination of black and silver, intended to mimic the iridescent sheen of a mallard's head feathers, has been frustrating and slow in coming. The latest formula on which tests are being conducted is a proven base glaze used for the Moss Agate. Here is a sample of the base I am now using:
Now it's a matter of balancing the coloring oxides to produce that special blend of black and silver. Stay tuned!
